1940's Historical Hair Charts

Whilst giving me inspiration for my designs, I came across this trailer for the film "It's a wonderful life' and it gave me inspiration of 1940s hairstyles, including the victory rolls. The link below shows the trailer.

I have drawn a few hair designs that could work towards my final design. These are just the basic designs that I have come up with. Some I really like and others I am not so sure on but with a bit more work and tweaking I feel that I could perhaps produce something good.

Design 1

Here I have created two victory rolls which curve round at the front and meet in the middle. The back is left down which is wavy/brushed out curls. This design is quite simple and I feel it could work towards a factory worker if I added props and costumes, however I don't feel this is my strongest design.

I really like this design as I like how the victory rolls meet together at a middle parting. I also like how the curls at the back of the head are much more tighter than brushed out. However, I feel this is too glamorous for a 1940s factory girl.

After comparing my designs, this has to be my favourite. I like the idea of having a snood which is what factory workers would have worn to keep their hair out of the way. I don't think the victory rolls look good sticking that far out of the head so I will develop it further to make them more historically looking. This will be the design I take further and develop for my final design.
