Equipment:
- Hairdryer
- Diffuser
- Mousse
- Water (spray bottle)
- Sectioning clips
- Afro comb
- Curlers
- Grips
- Ribbon
- Brush
- Hairspray
Steps: (Look 1):
- Split the hair in half and start to curl one half of the head.
- With the remaining half, apply the spray bottle to dampen the hair and then add the mousse. Once the hair has been evenly covered, put the diffuser on the end of the hairdryer and start to scrunch all the hair into it. This will create natural looking curls.
- Take your afro comb and start to tease the hair, creating volume.
- Add water and mousse to the fringe and start blow drying it up and over to the side to create a waved look.
- Add a coloured ribbon to the hair and tie at the side.
- Twist fringe up into quiff and pin in place.
- Use a banana clip to scrape sides back and create fullness at the back.
- Alternatively, use kirby grips to pin the sides up, leaving the quiff and curly hair at the back.
I had fun creating these looks today and I am pleased with how they turned out. I had never used a diffuser before so it was interesting to see how it worked. I think I am improving a lot more on my hair techniques and I hope it pays off for my final assessment! It is interesting to have a go at each era to help decide which one you want to choose for your assessment. I am still indecisive at which one I am going to choose yet but I am hoping these sessions will help!
