1970's Flicks

Equipment:

  • Curlers
  • Paddle brush
  • Pintail comb
  • Sectioning clips
  • Kirby grips

Steps:

  1. Turn the curlers on and part the fringe down the middle. Curl each section of the middle parting, it should be about 2 curlers wide so there is 2 curls at the top of the forehead.
  2. Section off the sides so they are the width of the rollers. Curl the sides at the sides so the direction of the curl is away from the face.
  3. The back will be curled using brickwork, all the way down to the nape of the neck.
  4. Once the curls are cooled, remove the pins and brush out the curls in the direction that they flow.
  5. If desired, slightly backcomb the roots to create more of a lift.

 Afro Hair

Equipment:
  • Afro comb
  • Open grips
  • Pintail comb
  • Sectioning clips
  • Straighteners
  • Kirby grips

Steps:
  1. Section the hair with the pintail comb in a zig zag form this helps the afro to flow and stops any harsh lines from being seen.
  2. At the end of each zig zag, take an open grip and wrap the hair around, weaving it in and out until all the hair has been wrapped around. Secure the ends of the hair with a kirby grip.
  3. Once the hair has been secured, take the straighteners and hold them over the hair until it gets hot.
  4. Once cooled, take the grips out and brush out the hair with the afro comb.

Unfortunately I didn't have time in the lesson to complete my disco afro hair so I learnt the technique and repeated it at home.

Although I only did a small section, I am happy with the outcome and feel it could be quite a good hairstyle!
